NATALIE HEYWOOD-TEARE Jewellery
Redefining our relationship with modern fine jewellery
https://www.natalieteare.com
We recently had the pleasure of working with Natalie Heywood-Teare to capture the story behind Natalie Teare Jewellery — a brand built on craftsmanship, personal connection and a deep appreciation for the artistry of fine jewellery. With a career shaped by years working within some of the world’s most respected jewellery houses, Natalie brings both technical expertise and heartfelt storytelling to every piece she creates.

In this Client Spotlight, Natalie shares the journey that led her to establish her own bespoke jewellery business, the inspiration behind her designs, and why the most meaningful pieces are often those connected to life’s most important moments. From celebrating love and milestones to reimagining treasured heirlooms, her work reflects the belief that jewellery should be more than beautiful — it should hold a story worth wearing.

Tell us a little about your background.
My love affair with jewellery has been long - I specialised in jewellery on my degree and then went to work at Cartier which really shaped my love and appreciation for quality and excellent customer service. I went on to work at a number of other highly revered jewellery houses until I decided to set up my own business in 2012. I am a qualified gemmologist and diamond grader and, in 2025, I was on the F:Entrepreneur Top 100 list for my contribution to the industry and business community. I am a proud Londoner and mother of a teenage boy, George, who is my world.
Where did it all start for you?
Even as a child I loved jewellery! I remember pulling to pieces some souvenir jewellery from Egypt that my grandparents had bought me and re-modelling it into new, better pieces. My dissertation was on the Duchess of Windsor’s jewellery collection and this fuelled a lifelong passion for bold, bright gems and unique jewellery designs. I think if you cut me open I’d be part jewellery!
What do you offer?
I’m a bespoke jeweller so every piece is unique, personal and sentimental, and my commissions are often marking milestones - engagements or anniversaries - or capturing life-defining moments - having a baby or getting a promotion. It is this ethos and emotional rooting that has really allowed my business to flourish. I am so privileged to hear such beautiful tales and I always try to incorporate these stories into the finished piece. I also offer a re-working service that allows me to re-make existing jewellery into more wearable pieces. Regardless of its origin or reason-for-being, I pride myself on setting my customers’ love stories in stone.
What does it mean to you to be a woman in business?
I gained so much useful experience working within esteemed jewellery houses but, particularly when I became a mother, my perspective and priorities changed. By setting up my own business I was able to offer a bespoke service that combined my huge love of jewellery with the empathy I have as a working woman/mother. And it was all on my terms.
Over the years I’ve become a champion for self-love and encouraged many women to celebrate their own achievements. I’m proud to have worked on many beautiful pieces that have been commissioned by women who are honouring their own successes.
Who are your customers?
My clients are people who aren’t just looking for an accessory, they want a one-off piece they can tell people about. I take time to meet with my clients face to face and get to know them. The designs are hand-painted and the stones are thoughtfully sourced. It’s a real pleasure to work so closely with my clients as you inevitably form such a lovely bond. In one family, I work with three generations, and in documenting their stories they become part of my own.
Tell me something interesting about the way you do business.
People often don’t realise how much science is involved in gems & jewellery and in the last few years it’s become a priority for me to share my knowledge with the younger generations to inspire and excite them, and, in particular for girls, give them the opportunity to consider STEM-related activities as a career.
Initially, I gave a talk at my son’s primary school about gemstones but it has since grown into a solid roster of engagements in both primary and secondary schools. My gemmology workshops allow the children to be hands-on with the stones and the science behind it all. It’s a fun and interesting way to meet some of the gem-related curriculum requirements and I’ve had some wonderful feedback from both teachers and parents (and children!)
What’s next for Natalie Teare Jewellery?
I’m only just getting started! I want to focus on growing the brand and re-shaping the business to serve the modern market. I work with some of the most talented craftspeople and suppliers and I am constantly inspired by meeting other business owners, so it’s definitely exciting and transformative times. Watch this space!
